Hey all,
Took the '69 glastron v153 futura out for the first time this after noon, the '70 V4 johnson 85hp had tons of power. We did have one problem though
On the way out going through the no wake we had a popping, missing issue that seemed almost as if we had bad gas.
Well figuring its just gummed up for not running in years we went on anyway. At full speed the miss was basically gone. Going under a bridge (no wake) it came back) and back and forth. We figured time to stop eat some lunch we packed so we were going into neutral to shut it off and before we could reach neutral she died! thought uh oh! well uh oh was right, she wouldn't start back up. so after being pissed off and humble we called boat US (luckily were a member, best 62 bucks ever spent) we got towed back in! (I recommend Boat US for anyone there 24 hr dispatch was great and all the staff/franchise owners are fnatastic)
So we got back home cleaned the boat figured lets try to was the motor out, hooked the ears up she fired up in a split of a second
Now I have 2 suspicions:1. either bad gas ( but why wouldn't it restart, unless I flooded it)
or 2 I have a bad coil making a miss and I know coils when there bad usually start fine but then wont restart after being hot or in some cases are the other way and wont start but once hot their fine.
Any suggestions? I think tomorrow I'm gonna try better gas and higher octane with the "STARS" stuff I hear high recomandations about it over Stahbil. And if shes still acting up come back to dock shut her off and try starting her. If she doesnt star my minds telling me coil is bad and for 32 bucks I don't care!
Any suggestions are highly welcome!
