I’ve been working on the final (carbs) adjustments on my motor for the last few weeks. “73 Merc 1500, 150 HP. Still bogs at WOT. Anyway today it bogged as usual, but died. Started back up and put it in forward gear. Nothing, just revved up. No clunk, metal noise ect. Used the electric motor to get back to the dock, load on trailer and  NO Prop! Just the shaft sticking out where the prop was.

I take the prop off every season and lightly coat the prop shaft with marine grease. Guess I did not get the prop nut on good this year.

Are there any parts that go behind the prop?

I tried installing a spare prop, but if looks like it slides to far back on the shaft now.

Any suggestions?

Re: Missing prop!

There is a large diameter thrust washer that goes on first, then the prop, splined washer, locking tab, and locknut.
