Missing serial number

Odd thing. The serial number plate on my 4.3 GS PBYC has some how faded away. The plate is still there and intact, it's just that all the numbers are gone! Any one have any ideas on how I can figure this one out? I need the SS number to insure the boat.

Look on the block, port side back just aft of the block mounted filter boss. There may be a metal tag riveted to the block. If not, head out to Lighthouse marine with your Hull ID number. If your engine was registered with Volvo when installed, it can be looked up through Volvo using the HIN number. If it wasn't registered, and there isn't a tag, then there probably isn't a retrievable sn on it.
