Missing Tube?

Just bought a used boat. The engine and outdrive is an Alpha One 3.0 Liter. Checking over the engine I see that above the carb there is the Air Filter? It sits under the actual Alpha One plate describing serial numbers etc.

Well off of this air filter is a tube connection which isn't connected to anything. I also notice that valve cover has a tube connection which isn't connected either. Are these supposed to be connected?

Thanks!

Yes, there should be some parts between the valve cover and flame arrestor. They aren't all the same, so a year and Merc SN are real handy is seeing what you really need.

Re: Missing Tube?

Any reason why the previous owner would take this off? What exactly do these parts do?

Re: Missing Tube?

They are there to keep the blowby from the engine (normal in all engine) from blowing oily fumes all over an enclosed engine compartment. By recirculating back into the engine, it goes out the exhaust.
I will post a pic of the parts you need, shortly.

The hose (22) fits on a tube sticking out of the valve cover

Re: Missing Tube?

Do I purchase both the Hose-vent and Hose? Or one or the other?

22 807202 HOSE-VENT
22 62060 HOSE

Thanks!
