I have a 70 hp johnson sea horse model number J70ELCNB and i do not know what the mix ratio is. What kind of oil should i use? Is there a special kind for this motor or will any 2-cycle oil do? I have a 10 gallon tank and i have never had to mix 2 cycle gas in this quantity before does the oil just get dumped down the spout to the gas tank before the gas is added? I've been told to shake up 2-cycle oil gas mix for my weed eater, unfortunately i am not stong enough to pick up the boat and shake it before it is started is this somthing i should worry about? I have come too far and waited too long to finally get this thing in the water and i want to absolutly positve that i dont screw anything up this close to the finishline. Thanks in advance

Re: Mix Ratio?

J70ELCNB = 1982 70hp Johnson. Fuel/oil mixture is 50/1, 1 pint of TCW-III 50/1 oil to 6 gallons of gasoline. 87 octane is okay. The movement of the boat will keep the mixture where it belongs, whether in the water or while being trailered.

Re: Mix Ratio?

If your 10 gallon tank is empty you will need just under a quart of oil, ET. If you use a whole quart you will have a 40:1 mix, which is a bit rich, but will do no harm.

Bon voyage. :)
