Re: mixing fuel/oil
Marco-

I have an 85 HP also. Mine is an 1987.

First, I would recommend Quicksilver Premium 2 cycle outboard oil. This is what the manuel recommends. Also, get one of the oil measuring bottles. Thats what you put the oil into for proper measuring.

Now if your tank is empty, pour about half the oil in first, then half the gas. Then continue with the rest of the oil and the rest of the gas.

If you fuel on the water and don't know how many gallons of gas you need to fill up, I usually measure on the oil mixer container for about 4 or so gallons, then add it to the tank and watch the gas pump. When you hit 4 gallons continue with more oil and more gas until you are filled up and the proper amount of oil is used for the proper amount of gas.

The ratio for your engine is a 50:1 mix. Its listed on the oil measuring container.

You can get these little containers at any marine store, like West Marine, for about $3.00.

Also since you new to the boating scene I also put a few drops of oil on my Starter Motor Armature shaft every few weeks.

Force starter motors are known to go bad a lot, so this keeps them well lubed.

If you have any more questions please post em.

Good luck.
