I have a 2002 Volvo Penta DP-SM drive Serial #4202054335. I'm changing the drive oil as part of the winterization process. In the spring of this year, I had a local V-P authorized shop pull the drive for inspection and service. Upon draining the oil today, it has a dark blue/green color. Apparently after performing their service this spring, the shop filled the drive with Merc High Performance drive oil. My question: I purchased the V-P synthetic gear oil specified by their manual to refill my drive. Is it OK to follow the Merc product with the V-P product without flushing?

No problem, just drain it completely (let it set for a few hours and drip) then refill with VP gear lube.

Thanks, Don. It's dripping as we speak and will continue for the night.
