I just cleaned my carbs from my 79 Chrysler 70hp and when finished I realized I had 2 different sized mixture screws on each carb. Can someone tell me which one goes in the bowl and which goes on the ouside of the carb? The #'s on the screws are 060 and 074. i'm guessing this is .060 and .074 . I didn't look when I took it apart.

Any help?????

Re: mixture jets on carbs

The jet inside the bowl LIMITS full throttle mixture. The one jet on the outside is an air bleed to regulate partial throttle mixture. .060 and .074 are the size of the hole in thousands of an inch.

Not knowing the exact carb, I could only venture a guess. You could not go wrong with the .074 inside the bowl as this will allow a richer mixture than the .060 at full throttle. The .060 again would allow less air bleed and a richer mixture at partial speeds. Too rich is always better than too lean as too lean will cause engine damage whereas too rich will only cause fouled plugs.

However, this is a case where I would definitely refer you to The Chrysler Crew and Franz.
