1993 200 hp evinrude. Picked up manual but does not say proper # of turn for the mixture screws on the carbs. I have six screws total all are turned out about 4.5 turns. Is this normal? motor appears to be running very rich? Or is this adjustment strickly for idle? If anyone knows proper setting would appreciate hearing from you

Re: mixture screws

The factory manual (1994 edition) says the initial setting is 2.5 turns out from lightly seated. It also says adjustment may be +/- 2 turns so 4.5 turns is not out of the question to run correctly. The adjustment screw only controls the idle circuit. The adjustment screw in this vintage motor meters air, not fuel. To lean it out turn it clock-wise, to richen it turn it COUNTER clock-wise. Make sure the air-bleed orifices (jets) are in their correct locations.

-John
