Re: MMO question

Why? What's the stated benfit? Marvel Mystery Oil is not a TCW-3 rated oil so why use it as a 25% replacement for a "required" oil? MMO has been around for well over 50 years and at one time and it was used as an upper cylinder lubricant (meaning valve guides). It was sucked into the intake manifold from a separate container and controlled with a needle valve. How well it would lubricate a high reving two stroke is not something I would experiment with.

Re: MMO question

I did use it for a while on my small model airplane 2 cycles just to experiment, 16,000-20,000 rpm. It is a very light penetrating type oil. Smells nice in the can--that's about all I can say.

As stated in above answer, "Why use it."

What is the stated benefit? What is the cost? If stated benefits do not outweigh the added costs, what is the sense in using it?

Remember, 2 cycle outboards have been around for a long time, and most have run very happily for years on regular TCW oils. Every upscale oil or snake oil claims added engine life and other benefits. But again, do the perceived advantages actually exist and do they outweigh the costs.

Can't blame Marvel for trying to increase their market through advertising--that's the nature of business.

Re: MMO question

Where did you come up with the 25% of oil in a 2 stroke?

The only claim I see relates to a 4 stroke oil change. Nothing said about usage in a 2 stroke.

Re: MMO question

Substituting 25% of two stroke oil w/MMO is what they recommend on their website.
