Is anyone using this oil in their air cooled motorcycle engine? Mobil 1 makes a 20W50 oil they say is better for high temp. air cooled engines. Do you think it's any better than regular Mobil 1 oil, or do they add something to it to make it more stable at higher temperatures? I've always run synthetic oil in my bike because it does get hot in AZ, just wondering if this stuff is worth the extra cost. It's about $8 a quart

They also have a 10W40 version of the same stuff. I've always heard to steer clear of 10W40 oils, is the Mobil 1 okay to use?

Thanks.

Marketing! Folger's coffee is mountain grown well....so are most of the other coffees. I think it is just a marketing gimmick. V-twins have seen quite the re-birth in the past ten years fo being popular.

I don't know specifics on the mobil 1 but I would stay with what has been working for you.

Bob

If yours is a "Wet Cluch", You are better off using an oil not filled with friction modifiers, Molly being the worst on cluches. The Vtwin oil is formulated for wet clutches and should work better for you.

Mobil 1

Thanks guys for your replys. LubeDude forgive my ignorance, but how do I know if I have a wet clutch? The same oil that I put in the engine is also used for the clutch. Is that a wet clutch? Thanks dude.

I used Spectro Golden 4 in my bikes for 15 years. No oil shear from all those mashing gears, so no clunking in the trans after a few hundred miles. Mine weren't twins, but 3 and 4 cylinders, air cooled and liquid cooled. ( standards, sport touring, and touring)

Every time I convinced a friend to try it ($4 a qt.) they came back praising the stuff.

Re: Mobil 1 V-Twin oil

Hey thanks guys. When I switched from dino to syn in my bike I noticed the gears changed alot smoother and the bike ran MUCH cooler. I've never noticed such a dramatic change with any other application as I did with the motorcycle. Thanks again for your help.
