Model and year help

I am new to being a boat owner with anything larger than a 5.5hp engine. I am also new to the Forum and am asking for a little help in finding out what year and model my new outboard is. I got a good deal on a 15ft 70's Viking boat and what I was told is a 40HP Johnson. I took a quick look and found these number's on a tag,

Johnson Motors
Model:RDS-25D
Ser# C386801

I want to do a bit of Routine Maintence before the ice is off and I get to take her on her maiden voyage. Any help is appreciated.

RDS-25 is the model number for the 1963 40HP Johnson. The suffix "D" is for a model run or change within the model year.

Fuel mix is 24:1,
Plugs are Champion J4C gapped at .030".
Set points at .020".

Thanks again for the timely responses, I finally got the boat into the shop, went to turn it over and it seemed it was seized. Got looking into things and relealized that there was no oil in the leg and that is why I would not turn over. I have taken the prop side of things off, but am having trouble getting the main spline of the shaft so I can replace the bearing. I would like to know if there is anything special I will need to do to pull the main shaft spline off of the shaft. I am hoping just a puller will get it without damaging anything. I have taken some pics and will post shortly.

one more thing ius that I pulled the bolts one section up from the bottom to have a little look and ended up pulling the section down about 6". That made it so I knew the motor was not seized. Question, is the shaft timed to the motor or will I be fine as long as the shaft went back in and I re-bolted the peice back on.
