Im lookin at purchasing a 19' VIP. Im trying to find the NADA value however the models they list and what VIP list are different. I called Caddo and they wouldnt help. The USCG plate id's the boat as a 1996 I/O for the model #. The Hull plate on the stern has RS067DM43SCD for the model #.

NADA has 6 different 19" choices for 1996 VIP: convertible, lxt, sbrc, sbrl, sst, and xbrc. Opps forgot one, sx 190 (outboard I believe.)

The one Im looking at has the 4.3 mercruiser and is in great condition. Seems to have been well maintained. Asking price is 7000 and appears to be a good deal.

Any input appreciated.

Re: Model Help

What does the MSO (title) say the boat is. If has an I/O, I can tell you it isn't an SX-190 (bass boat). If it has a "Motor Box" (a box with 2 seats, 1 on each side) then it's probably a 1930 LX model. If I were a betting man (and I'm not) I'd say that RS means it is a 1930 SBR. SBRC was custom and SBRL was luxury.

The D means it was made in April or is the color code, I don't remember, but I'm leaning towards the color code because the month made is in the serial number. The M43 means it came with a Mercruiser 4.3. The S means it was a super sport design and the CD was the interior style. I think the 067 means it was the 67th model of "RS" made. We didn't need to carry the year model and year made as that is in the serial number.

We didn't get any of the old log books that Vivian Industries had. We have to rely upon employee memory at this point.

Just in case you're curious, the 1930 was one of my favorite boats we made. It was basically a stretched 1760 that made it more roomy without adding much weight. It performed very well and it was very affordable as it was simple to assemble.

Re: Model Help

Man, I had the same question you did when I bought my VIP (about 4 months ago).

I called Caddo Boats and they were extremely helpful. I'd get the Hull ID and call them back. I'm not kidding, they gave me all the info I could possibly use.

And BTW, I love my boat.

Re: Model Help

Thanks for the help. The year is still confusing since USCG plate has 1996 I/O and VIN is a 1994 model. Is it possible it was built in 1994 but not sold or something till 1996? I tried the factory and the woman that answered the phone was not receptive to helping at all.

I called the current owner to tell him I was going to get it and now it has a knock in the lower unit and is going to the shop. Hopefully that doesnt jack the price.

Thanks
