I think it's 91. It's a V-4 140 . I can't find a plate with model number.
The serial number from the silver disk on the block is G2525666
Anyone able to decipher that code?
I'm looking to get an OEM manual but there appear to be several choices - want to get the correct one.
Thanks.

G2525666 is a serial number just for your motor. A BRP/Evinrude dealer can look that up for you.

The model number would have been on a label on the port transom bracket, but they sometimes wore off.

If you post some pictures of the engine and cover, someone may recognize the differences.

Some dealers also sell the older manuals and might be more willing to help you.

Thanks. By "silver disk" I mean the "freeze plug" in the block. It is just the serial. i actually found the orginal invoice in some paperwork given me by the previous owner when Dusky Marine in FL re-powered it in Nov 1991. The Model is listed as W140TX 1990. However handwritten on the invoice is
E140CXESR

Well thank you! but that raises a big question, why counter-rotating on a single engine boat 20FT CC?
Deal on a surplus motor?
Looking at the prop from behind the stern, this would mean the prop rotates counter-clockwise when moving forward?
does this raise any single engine issues vs a standard rotating prop?

Counter-rotating gearcases are usually mounted on one of a pair of motors. You will need to determine what you have, I can't see it from here.

When the engine turns, a standard drive in forward gear turns the propeller clockwise when viewed from the rear and the propeller's blades are closest to the boat on the right edge. The opposite is true on the counter-rotating drive.

I checked, and it's standard rotation. Viewed from the rear the prop goes clockwise to bite the water
So the Model must be E140TXESR

Thanks.

It could have simply had a std gearcase installed as well. just keep that in mind when ordering parts.

By gearcase, I assume you mean the lower unit?
So wouldn't it be the same any other Std rotation?
What parts above the lower unit would be different in a Counter R motor?

Re: Model Number '91 140

On the looper models, the 25 inch drives are large gearcases with 15 splines on the propeller shaft. The counter rotating motors had the longer midsection for the 25" drive and all of the counter rotating drives were 25 inch. The standard motors with X in the model numbers are also 25" drives with longer midsections for the 25" drive which were all large gearcases with 15 spline propshafts as well.
