Model number help!

I have a 40HP mercury 400 SN is 3049291, I cant not find a model number anywhere or any more info on the motor. I need a few parts for it but cant order because that serial number does not come up anywhere. Any suggestions would be greatly apreciated. Thanks!

thanks guys! I called mercury and they said there was not a matching model number but he thought it was a 1971 two stroke based on the serial number. Can you recommend a good repair/service Manuel for this motor.

That s/n should be valid and comes up as:

40 400 2-cyl 3043031 3336257 1971 USA
