i bought a boat and moter last fall was told 1991 model since the boat and trailer were both 1991 i took the guys word the motor was aswell but just had to have the starter rebuilt and was informed the starter has 1989 on it would they have used an older starter and where can i look up my motor's year SN OC282340 ANY HELP WOULD BE GRATEFULL THANKS

He could have replaced the original starter with a rebuilt older one

great so if made in 1990 still could be the 1991 model i guess and he probly did replace with older starter

Or because of the date they built the engine they may have used a starter left over from 1989.

Thanks for the info so far this motor has been nothing but a head ache first thing was the T&T still haven't got it working it would go down but not up both silonoids tested good but now nothing just clicking like the starter did before haveing it rebuilt. So probley have to rebuild it to or but new

The same bosch starter motor is used between 1988 and 1994. How does he identify your starter motor as a 1989?

i'm not sure i didn't see the markings he just said it was stamped 89
