I am newby to iBoat forums. I was willed a boat that has a 1350 listed on the coweling, but I have no idea whatsoever what year this boat and motor are. It will not start, but I need to know what model and year this motor is before I can begin asking for help. Where can I find this information?

first, welcome aboard

you need to start with the family estate that willed the boat and get registration/title and BOS paperwork

next, my guess is the motor is black, and 1350 would be a 135hp motor. there should be a serial number stamp on the transom clamp.

the boat will either have a HIN if its 1972 or newer on the back of the transom on the starboard side (right) or it will have a serial number plate inside the transom.

Not much of a description and pictures always help. But based on the 1350 you state is on motor, it is probably a 1970's Mercury 135hp outboard. Does that seem right?

As far as finding out exact year, you need teh serial number from motor. Try looking on the motor bracket under the front of the powerhead for the serial number, or on the flange near the where the starter bolts up to the block.
