I'm trying to mount a 1977 85 HP Johnson Javelin Outboard Motor on a 1976 Glastron GT-150 boat. The trim/tilt motor is mounted externally on the right side transom bracket. The transom of the GT-150 is not straight across, it has extensions that come aft several inches. When trying to mount the motor the trim pump is hitting the right extension. Can I delete the pump from the transom bracket and mount it in the boat? The old trim motor is bad anyway with a replacement cost of over $300. So I'm looking for a alternate pump/motor/reservior assembly. I found a Mercrusier assembly brand new in box for $200, that's pump/motor/reservior. I have a local hydraulic shop that can fabricate the custom hoses. Electrical is not an issue since the boat is under restoration with no electrical wiring now. So will the Mercrusier pump work? Any other suggestions?
