Suggestions. Boat sat over our winter (Florida). I just took the cover off of it and it has the black Mildew along the sides. It's worse on the side that was facing east.

Soap & water removed most of it along with a scrub pad. What else? It's PVC.

If you want to get a commercial product, Spray Nine cleaner, available at West Marine and WalMart works well.

I'm a new boat owner and don't know much, but my seats had quite a bit of mold on them from sitting up over the winter. I used the walmart brand black streak remover and a scotchbrite pad and it worked wonders!

for black mold in the interior you need a type fungiside. Spray nine etc may clean the surface but traces may still be in the crack and crevices black mold is the stuff that can make you sick and can be deadly , Black mold loves dark damp confined places like your tarp/gear locker and under the cushions in your birth . There is a product that I use in hvac systems that is non bleach called moldstat that works very very well and is safe for confined/ air delivery systems but it is pricy..deliuted bleach is ideal for any type mold but as you all know its not fun to work with. Viniger is acidic I would say would be a ok fungiside but as far a a good cleaner I have not had good results when I tried that...... As for the green molds, dried slime and icks on my hull bleach is a ok choice. But I found "THE WORKS" toilet bowl cleaner at the dollar store is the cats a*s.

Hi,

Aurora Marine Products make environmentally safe products that work well. They have a great mold and mildew cleaner.

http://www.auroramarine.com/aurora/catalog/special.html

A guy i know who uses thoes product and never heard him complain....for me though if it says environmentally safe it dont work. I have tried tree hugger concrete cleaner at work to get stains out they never buged, then i poured acid on it boom gone..And most of the safe stuff is just watered down versions of the nasty stuff anyways .

Hi,

In most circumstances I would agree with you however it seems these guys use Hypexine.I am not sure what it is but I know it works. I have numerous products by them and so far so good.

Re: Mold & Mildew cleaner

So, I went to West Marine and spoke with the sales guy. He leads me to the cleaning isle and points out a product called, "Roll Off". He says he cleans his Bertram with it and literally just sprays it on and after three minutes, many times only needs to wash it off (ie. no scrubbing).

I purchase it, I think about 15.99 for the spray bottle. Look at the company that sells it, Bell Chemicals, inc., a local company here in south Florida.

I rush home, and start using it. I found it works VERY well. Maybe the mold and dirt don't exactly "Roll Off" but that could be due to it being an inflatable with mini nooks and cranny's in the material. Though on the transom the dirt and grime did indeed roll off. Now on the tubes I used a mild scrub pad to facilitate the cleaning after allowing it to "soak" for about 2 minutes. I found that if you use it straight with no water in the beginning it works best. I only used fresh-water for cleanup with a boat soap cleaning in the end.

For those of you that were in the Military, do you recall the GP cleaner that was ordered from the GSA catalog. This has the EXACT distinct smell and feel to it as GP...hmmmmm. Patent infringement? Chemicals listed for the formula are REALLY close too. They state it's bio-degradable.
