I'm looking to buy a boat, but the Bimini top is pretty moldy.
He's not budging on the price, but I'm wondering how to clean it and
how much of the mold will come out. Its a bright yellow, so the black
mold doesn't look so hot.
First off don't use a strong bleach solution - it will eventually deteriorate the binding threads. Remove it and lay it on the ground and spray with a lot of water and put a stiff bristle brush to it. See how much that helps. Then take a step up in cleaning power and try some Soft Scrub. Just keep working your way up in strengths of cleaners until you're satisfied. Always rinse with a LOT of fresh water and scrub again with a clean brush. If you get it nice and clean I'd probably uses some 303 protectorant spray after it dries. Good stuff !!
