The title says it all. Any info on these boats will be appreciated. Local craigs list has one
listed. No buid date, just says 40 horse engine, oh its an 18 footer. Think Monark folded or
was asorbed by another manufacturer. Thank you, old jim

Wow. That boat made it all the way from Monticello, Arkansas to California (I assume that's where you found it)! That's quite a journey. You are correct about Monark. They became SeaArk some time ago. They were known for their john boats, but one sees a Monark barge around here from time to time. There's nothing to say really. It's a small barge that should be a nice little putt around boat for fishing and cruising. Provided there are no glaring issues she should be fine. Is she offered cheap?

Has a price of 5700, I will go take a look see when the rain goes away. By the way thats what
I am looking for, a nice little putt around for fishing and cruiseing. Regards, old jim

Gotcha. Jim, I know geography is one of the main factors when it comes to boat pricing, but FWIW in my neck of the woods that rig would go for 1500. Maybe two grand totally redone, but that would be the absolute top.

Boy, did I mess my last poast up big time, lets see if I can make a little more sense.
Monark patio boat $5700. 18 foot with 40 horse ????? runs good, comes with trailer and conopy top.

Aloha Pontoon boatn 25 horse Johnson outboard, trailer, and BBQ. $4500 I think 1980 vintage

I haven't looked at the Monark. The Aloha well the toons and deck were first rate. The rest
was dumpster bait. The lady paid 4500 for the boat 2 years ago and that what she would sell the boat for....

Jim, I'm stunned by those prices. I just can't believe how much they're asking for small old toons with small old motors out there (please understand I'm not knocking the boats). Have you considered travelling a little? If what you've mentioned here is representative you could save thousands.

Re: Monark Pontoon Booats

Went up to Whiskey Town lake this morning rented one of the marinas toons for
a couple of hours. Had to run over my own wake to see if the boat reacted as
youall say, I get the picture. I want my own pontoon boat now!!!
Local dealer has 18ft Tracker Party Barge for right at 10 grand. It's an 03 but
it looks brand new. After the stuff Iv'e seen think I will see how my bargaing skills
work. Regards, old jim

Re: Monark Pontoon Booats

We live on the lake, and virtually never see a pontoon boat under 20'. Notice that such boats are usually pushing 19" pontoons--plowing through the water sitting low.

Little pontoon boats just don't have big enough tubes to properly carry normal passenger and engine loads and still be seaworthy. A 40 hp is just not enough juice for my heavy footed ways.

Do yourself a favor and get a 20' or large boat with a 60 hp or larger "bigfoot motor". Many pontoon owners are sorry they got low powered boats--but no owners are sorry they went with their boat's largest rated power. Upgrading engines is just a losing proposition.
