Monofilament causes prop seal leak

I have a pre '97 Honda 40 hp outboard. Mono got wrapped around the prop shaft and now the seal is leaking. How hard is that to diy and would I need any special tools? Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me. Bill

I can't believe that on one has had any experiance with this fix?

You will need to remove the gearcase ,pull the bearing carrier and replace those seals.This can be a simple job if you have the appropiate pullers or could get complicated if operated in salt and require some heat.
