Hi, I am thinking about purchasing a motor for my boat. I am new to boating and don't know much about it. The guy that has the motor I want also does not much about boating. The Motor is a Montgomery Ward Sea King 9.6 Model # VWB27209 27x
Serial # 20019. I am wondering if this is a decent motor and if $150 bucks is a good price for it. Also it has a broken pull cord and I can't figure out how to fix it. If anyone could help me please let me know. I would like to know the year and if its any good. And where is a good place to buy parts if I need em. Thanks. I think this motor takes 50:1 ratio. Or so I've been told. Thanks A lot.

The motor is a 72 built by Chrysler.Recoils are a pain to work on requiring a special tool.It is common for the starter gear to break as well.Chrysler outboards Became Force about 1985.Chrysler and force parts are hard to find. While the $150 price is tempting There is a reason it is so reasonable.
Save your money and go for an Evinrude or Johnson
many routine parts are still available back to the early 50s.Even right here on iboats.
They are also reasonably easy to work on.
