Montgomery Ward Sea King - Can I get Parts?

I am looking to buy a Montgomery Ward boat that also has a 50hp Montgomery Ward Sea King outboard. The current owner says the motor was built by Chrysler (bought by Evinrude.) Unfortunately I don't know the year of the motor...

I'm sort-of hoping someone can help me with a couple of questions before I purchase the boat.

1. Will I be able to find parts? Will current (over the counter) Evinrude parts work with this motor?

2. Are there 'things or issues' known about this motor I should look at before I purchase it?

Thanks!

Chrysler and Evinrude are only related by the fact that both clamp to a boat. Evinrude did not buy out Chrysler, U.S. Marine (Bayliner Boats) did, and they re-named it "Force". Then Mercury bought the Force line. Then Mercury dropped the whole thing and stopped supplying parts.

So.o.o.o, bottom line is that you find parts wherever you find them. iboats has a few items such as impellers and stuff.

Wow, that's very helpful info! As you can probably tell, I'm an newbee so I don't want to get in over my head but at the same time, I don't want to miss an oportunity to get a great boat and to learn.

Do you happen to know if parts like the pump are easy to find? I understand that should be replaced every 5-year.

Thanks again!

As I said, iboats has some pump impellers. Whether or not yours is included, I don't know off-hand.

Thanks again for your response. Sorry about the newbee question. I didn't realize the pump and "pump impellers" were the same thing. I've only heard it called the 'outboard pump.'

Well, thanks again
