mooring cover stolen

Just before Christmas someone stole my mooring cover, it was for my 23ft Berkshire, they also took the poles. Talk about being pissed off.
I have Boat US insurance and boy do they ever want documentation. I honestly don't think I will ever go with them again. They are still doing the paper work and it's been over 3 weeks.

I faxed them 10 or 11 pages of info, Estimates, police reports, photo of boat, sales receipt, etc'. Thye called today and wanted to know if I had a picture of mooring cover, I said no. I told them if they go to Berkshires web site they would see that it comes with that model boat as does the Bimini.
I don't blame them for being thorough but in the meantime my boat is getting dirty. The cover comes without snaps and the dealer has to install them, I probably won't get it cover up for 2 Months.

Sorry to hear your cover was taken. Never hear much about those being stolen. I would get an inexpensive tarp and bungee it on for now to protect the boat until you get a replacement cover.

Sorry about the loss as well but it brings up a good point. I've always taken pictures of my boats, the ID plates, the trailer capacity plates, the interior, exterior, motor and serial number tag, and all accessories (standard and those I've added) for just this reason. Fortunately I've not had any insurance claims so I've not had to use the photos. But they have come in very handy when making a slide show of the boat when it comes time to sell it.

Wow, that really sucks, man. So sorry to hear that. Just curious; do you know how much a new mooring cover would be? My guess is around $600, in which case filing a claim wouldn't even be worth the trouble unless you have a really small deductible. Hope you get it resolved soon.

Incoop, Way off, $2,200 the cover is $1,700 and another $500 for picking up boat and installing all the snaps. Whoever stole it will probably sell it for $200 to buy drugs.

Wow. Okay, definitely worth it then of course. I'm just surprised it's that much. I have the snap on mooring cover on my Suntracker and a new one just like it is $625 including tax and shipping. Any way, good luck with the process. I know it's a hassle.

Re: mooring cover stolen

$2200 sounds a little steep to me too. My cover was shot on my 20 footer so I had a custom cover made when I took it in to be wrapped for winter. My dealer has a shop that custom makes the covers to match the snaps that are already on your boat. I just dropped it off and the shop picks it up, makes the cover, and takes it back to be wrapped and stored for winter. I won't see the new cover till spring but a guy two slips down from me has one of their covers and I looked at a few more at the dealers. They do nice work and it cost me just under $800. I don't know about Georgia but there are a lot of places to get custom covers up here in Minnesota. Maybe thats why they're cheaper. I suppose if the insurance pays for it its not that big a deal but I don't think it should take two months to get your boat covered.
