More Power

Hi boys! I'm sorry for my english, i'm italian!I have a johnson 40 HP 4 stroke 2003 3 cyl, somebody told me that is possible to increase power till 50 hp!Can u help me? How is possible this? What i have to do? How much does it costs? Thank's for your help!Bye!

The cost if you buy the parts discounted and do the work yourself is in the 300-400 price range. Better to have bought the engine 50 Hp to begin with. I guess you could find an outboard bone yard and get some current model used parts. I'm converting a Mercury 2000-2003 60 cu inch 3 cylinder 2 cycle 40 HP to 50 HP and the cost for parts with a 20% discount is about $400.00(3 new carbs, bigger oil injection pump and gaskets) Of course I'm going to try to sell my oil pump and original carbs...but what I'll get is any bodies guess......The only reason I'M doing this is 50 or 60 HP short shaft motors where discontinued just about the time I bought mine and I was unable to locate one. My motor is out of warranty also....
