More Smart Tab Questions....

Ok, so I ordered my Smart Tabs. I went outside this morning to install the new fishfinder and the questions/problems just keep coming.

I measured for the Smart Tabs for the ideal location 5" from the edge of the stern (see pictures, blue tape is ideal mounting distance), but look what is above it! I have to move the stern tiedowns apparently, but what do I do about the Smart Tabs gas actuator mounting with the swim deck supports???

There must be an answer, I can't be the only person with a Four Winns like this to try the install?

My other question/problem is that the fishfinder transducer (according to Hummingbird) should be on the Starboard side 13" from the prop. That would put it at 2" past the speedo. Won't that affect it's operation? (although on my last boat the transducer was on the port side).

Re: More Smart Tab Questions....

I did some closer investigation and constructed a mockup using the dimensions from Naticus and using the actualtor shaft lenght of 10 1/2"

Anyone know whether this will work? I will be mounting on a curved surface, but is the angle too severe?

Any comments would be appreciated.....

Move the mounting locatuion for the Smart Tabs inboard just enough to allow the transom bracket (top part of the actuator) to mount on the flat surface of the transom. Go to our web site to view other installations. www.nauticusinc.com them scroll down to "install instructions"

Also, Do not run the hydrofoil and the Smart Tabs. Remove the Hydrofoil!

Yep, the whole plan is to get rid of the hydrofoil.

So is more of what you are saying? (see pictures). I will need to move the speedo, hopefully there is enough tubing available.

Will I still get the same benefits as them mounted out more, or will it be more minimal?

Re: More Smart Tab Questions....

Talked to Greg (I believe) at Nauticus and he says my setup in the last mockup (for those with the same problems) will work and none of the benefits will be reduced. I get them tomorrow, so we'll get them on see what happens!

Thanks for the great customer support!

Installed

For those interested, received the Smart Tabs and installed today. Pretty straight forward install. We'll see if they need adjustment. Not sure if the angle is correct or whether it needs to be reduced. Maybe the Nauticus guys will chime in...

Threw in a picture of the new fishfinder and mount. Used the RAM mount, worked very well.......

Re: More Smart Tab Questions....

Have you tried them out on the water yet?
I have a 1993 Four Winns 190 Horizon and am contemplating on getting these...
