Here is a pic of the boat that the 4 missing boaters were on in the Gulf...with one of the boaters (Nick Schyler) sitting on the overturned boat....it's a foam filled Everglades....I for one am glad I replaced the foam in my old FW...and I bet this poor guy is glad they had a foam filled boat....hoping that they find the other 3 guys out there......

Many will debate the use of foam....but the main thing is safety....and your life...you can always buy another boat...and even poorly built boats with foam last 10-15 years, judging by the age of most of the rebuilds on here.

I know mine will float in a similar fashion should it ever capsize. :D:D

Prayers for those lost at sea.

In this kind of wreck the foam in my boat wouldn't do me any good. Lake Superior water runs about 40-60 degrees during the months when it's liquid, so if I don't have an exposure suit being able to cling to something floating won't help.

Foam is a good requirement for many boaters though... a lot of them just aren't bright enough to stay alive without it :)

I agree the foam is a great idea. Boats have to be designed to be used just about anywhere since the MFG has no way to stop you from taking them out in big water. MOST of the time I spend in lakes so small you can swim from the middle of the widest area! I still like the idea that IF i were to be swampped by one of the idiots in the 32 foot Cuddy Cabins with the radar arches, my passengers and I could sun bath on the bottom of the hull while we waited the 5 minutes for a rescue...
