motor angle ????

if you have ever read any of my other post you know i am a big time rookie to the boating world so please dont laugh at me ( not to hard at least ))i am in the process of putting an old motor on a old boat ...(1971 100hp johnson on a 1979 22 eskibot) when i set the motor on the transom the motor sets kind of like it is going to push upward ...i know were to make the adjustment to get the prop in position more level with the bottom of the boat .....but my question should i ????? what should the angle be ????? level with the bottom of the boat ??? pointing upward ????or downward ?????? any help would be great .......thank you /

The anti-ventilation plate should be level with and parallel with the bottom, Skibot.<br /><br />Good luck.
