Motor Confusion

Good morning, I hope this is a simple question, but my luck I say no. I have a 1990 4 Winns 4.3 omc, 2bbl, 6 cyl. I have just had the carb re-built (told to by mechanic)and put back on. The engine ran rough then was like new for about 15 minutes. The motor started shaking running rougher then ever before. The motor stalled itself out. I was able to re-start it but never kept running, then it would not start at all.

Re: Motor Confusion

Your problem is with your mechanic.

Take the boat to him (if on trailer) and tell him you expect him to make it right.

You have a simple engine. No excuse for it to run rough after carb work.

Re: Motor Confusion

Thank You for your time, and I agree with you both. I never had a problem with the motor until he did some other minor work on the boat. Once again my thanks.

Re: Motor Confusion

I agree make your mech fix it. You said that he did other work but didn't say what, if he had the distributor out and didn't get it back in correctly or reset the timing that can also couse these problems.
