One thing I need to revive this old motor is the cover seal...the one between the upper and lower motor covers. It's a 1960 75hp Evinrude and the seal mounts on the lower cover...any ideas will be greatly appreciated...thanks

Good Luck finding the exact replacement. I couldn't find one for my 1958 Johnson. But I did find some weatherstrip that worked. Found it at McMaster Carr. If you just want some kind of a replacement that works well let me know and I will give you the part number of what I bought.

bhalsdorf@mecanex.com

Hello Thought 101.
Just yesterday I was staring at a roll of that stuff.
Call 585-323-1010 and try to convince them to send you some
good luck.

Bill...I was really just looking for something that works well then "rolmops" came up with an exact replacement. I'll call the number listed tomorrow and hope I can get them to send me some. There is some sort of deteriorated replacement that is there now but doesn't really seat the hood well so one way or the other maybe that part of the job will be a little easier because of your suggestions. Thanx to both of you.
