Motor designations

Is there a list (somewhere that i can look at) for Merc. that tells what each engine is?

For instance:
Merc. 5.7 = a Chevy 350
Merc. 5.0 = a chevy 305
Merc, 888 = ?????
Merc. 898 = ?????
and so on.. Not just these listed.

Which ones are fords and which are chevy and the cubic inch and # of cylinders??

Just remember that alot of the used 5.0 mercruisers(chevy) are actually 5.0 OMC's(ford) - never trust the ad.

Im not looking for a motor, i was just wanting to know if ther was a chart that says what is what.
