i was on the water today and my motor just started dying out than died completly. woulnt start and was turning hard. thank 30 mins or so would start but wouldnt stay going and gas was coming out the carbs. i found a ful line that leads to the carb to be leaking. what caused the motor to die and not start or turn over for a bit? oh yah i forgot to open the vent on top of the gas tank too. stupid me. how often should the impellor be replaced. i just did it last fall. thanks

If the gas tank vent isn't open that could be your problem. Any holes in your fuel lines is problem its worse if the hole is before the fuel pump because that can cause a foamy fuel mix. It sounds like you have a fuel problem though and water pump impelliers should be replaced every year in salt water and every other in fresh water.

It's possible, maybe even probably, that you overheated pistons and did major damage as it leaned out before dying entirely.

A compression check will tell if there's mechanical damage or not.

started motor today and it runs good. compression is between 118 and 124 psi. its not hard starting and works like it did before. thanks for the input
