Motor flushing.

I have a 1999 200 johnson it has a plug on the rear of the cowling that pee's while the motor is running. I can unscrew this plug and screw in my garden hose to flush my motor. Can I run the motor while the hose is attatched this way or will it burn up my water pump?

You can run the motor, idle only.
