Hi, I have a 1999 16' skeeter. Is there any way to shorten my bow mounted motor guide trolling motor? Even when I adjust it as high as it will go, it's still too far below the boat than I want.

YES there is a way. But it isn't totally simple or a piece of cake! If you know anything about trolling motors then you know that the head unit is usually attached with one or two screws into the shaft. So you have to disassemble the head unit off the shaft. That means disconnecting the wires going down the shaft as well. So get a camera and take tons of picture as you proceed to disassemble the head unit and wires. Once you have the two separated, you can cut however much off you need too and then reverse the assembly order and there you go...

How far below the boat is the prop? Are you trying to use it in really skinny water?

Thanks for the info Captain, I'll follow your instructions, unless I can think of something a little simpler.
I do get into pretty shallow water. Yesterday I was in about 2-3 feet of water and the trolling motor was bottoming out. I had to pull up on the pull cord to raise the motor about a foot until I could get to deeper water...... not fun when you're fighting the current.
