This is on my used 1991 Stratos. Have no idea as to year or model. Touring Edition.
24v. A side pot on the left of the foot that controls the speed. It's 250 Kohm and wipes cleanly from end to end using an ohmmeter. There are no electonics or printed circuit boards in the top of the pole, just wires and a lamp for the directional indicator.

My question is it goes from full throttle to nothing in about 25% of the scale. Really tough to set a speed. The poteniometer has one wire to one end and one to the center tap. Orange and Green I believe.

I have no idea if this is the right value potentiometer since it looked like it had been changed out at some time.

My question is does anyone have a schematic or possibly the answer to this issue?

As always any ideas appreciated!

Mark the position on the potentiometer where the motor is off (or the slowest speed). Then do the same where the motor just reaches its maximum speed. Now measure the resistance between those two positions. Thats the value the potentiometer should be. 250K sounds way too high for a motor control.

Ends up it should be a 1600 ohm (1.6k) potentiometer. It now travels about 90% of the way before the motor stops. Installed works as it's supposed to really appreciate the advice.
