Hi- I was given a boat that has been stored in a basement for 10 years. The boat has not been started in that long. I don't have the serial number on me here but it starts with 555.

Anyhow, I've removed the carb and am in process of rebuilding it. Engine has 150 psi in each cylinder. Drained the gear oil and it's BLACK with no sign of water although over that amount of time I'm not sure if the water would even be there still. The engine turns over strong. I'm looking for pointers. I don't have a book yet. Anything I need to do off hand? I have a new fuel filter, cleaned the tank and getting a new deliver hose. Hoping the fuel pump is OK. THere is a frayed wire at what I think is the power pack which is in front of the carb on that black steel cover. The wire is in tact and leads up to the stator I think. Any way to repair these without buying a new stator? Did not plan on getting this boat at all it just landed in my driveway because the guy didn't want it. It did run prior to storage.

Anyone have a PDF manual? I can only guess the year of the engine is 1979.

Thanks!

There is nothing more helpful than the repair manual, order one takes about a week.Clean the plate with the serial # and see if you can get the full #.You might as well plan on rebuilding the carburetors after it set that long, also the fuel pump.Make sure you have spark to all cylinders and plan on doing a linc and sync.Check all fuel lines, replace if necessary.Mine sat for only three years but I had to do all of those things, runs great now.
