As with a single your final X dimension will depend greatly on your props (style & technology) and how they react with your hull design, balance and spacing. <br /><br />With multi engine set ups we generally just measure from the center of the lower unit to the bottom of the hull directly in front of it. Here's where it gets tricky. If possible we like to center each motor in back of a lifting strake. Now, most folks just measure across the top of the transome and find center. Then just place the outboards a given distance from the "center". <br /><br />At least one motor may end up off center of the strake. Most times the port motor. This is not so critical that the boat cannot be used obviously but it may create strange overheating issues as you test different heights. <br /><br />And with multipule engines you have the advantage of playing with toe-in or toe-out. As well as which side gets the backwards gearcase.
