We have decided to buy a 22ft pontoon, either a Bennington with a Yamaha 90hp, or Avelon with a Mercury 90hp. Now dealer says the Evinrude 90 e-tech is best. HELP! Yammer, Merc. or Rude

I would go 4 stoke (Yamaha or Honda), but if that were not an option, I'd have to go E-Tech

:welcome: aboard.

You know this is like your wife asking if this dress makes her look good - There is no right answer.

Are the pontoons being sold pre-rigged with a motor as a package deal? Which set-up fits your pocketbook best?

Whom ever is going to give the better service in your area. Secondly, how will you be using the boat? Is a 90 big enough? On a 22' you might want to consider a 115 or 150hp

Todays outboards are all pretty good. Service nearby and service intervals are important.
I like the Etec and it is available in a pontoon series.
As I understand it the Etec does not require a breakin period.
Also No service required for 3 years or 300 hours.
I think the Etec is 320 lbs, the Merc 375,Yammy 380.

I have a 20' Bennington with a 60 HP four stroke high thrust Yamaha, my pontoon is set up for fishing. I am quite satisfied with that motor for what I use it for, .
