Motor ID Please

I was at a yard sale yesterday and there was a old Montgomery Ward Engine there.

Model # 84GG9014A
Serial # 208671

I would like to find out what brand and year this is.

Well, the GG in the model number says it is a Sea King, manufactured by Gale, which makes it a kissin' cousin to some JohnnyRude.

That's what I can tell. Someone with more will be along shortly.

This motor should have a brown tank, as long a some bozo hasnt painted it.
You may have a 1947-1950 5hp

It is a 1948 (reverse the 84). 5hp. Made by Gale Products Division of OMC. It is a Gale model 2W7. Don't get the idea that it is the "same as" J/E though. But a few parts are the same, such as ignition and recoil starter. And there was an Evinrude/Elto equal, but you will see way far more Gales than you will the E/Elto.
