Nobody would believe the horror stories with the shop on this motor so I won't go into it. I do need help, if possible, identifying the year. The only info I have is as follows:
62504545 came from freeze plug at center between heads.
333809-4 cast into all heads. If I can find any more info will post it. :(

Re: Motor ID with minimal info

you mite try to get the att of clanton, he helped me greatly in figuring out what year my motor was.
i got it as a 1992 120 that turned out to be a 1988 140.
so i understand your frustration.
carb #s off the side plate of each carb can help.
-
here are some #s from a 1991 'EI' parts book
#433512 head for 185
#397860 head for 200/250
-
#431889 block assembly
-
#433398 carb 185, 200stl, 225 (upper port)
#434641 carb "" "" "" (upper stbd)
#433399 carb "" "" "" (lower port)
#434642 carb "" "" "" (lower stbd)
-
#433396 carb 200TX, CX (upper)
#433397 carb 200TX, CX (lower)
-
another way to try and narrow down is to identify what T/T system you are using conventional or fast track.
i think 1991 was the 1st year of the fast track.
-
just trying to help

2K BOAT

I really appreciate the response and the information. BTW, I just left the shop again and finally heard the rebuild motor fire off for the first time. It sounds real good.

RetNav,Just curious as to how the shop that rebuilt the engine determined what parts to order not knowing the year model of engine.I take it the transom bracket tag is missing?

ob, The tag is missing, but we know it is a 200 hp evinrude looper around 90-92. Looked in the parts book and most of the stuff we needed the #'s were the same. Just lucky I guess :D Still trying to determine the year of the motor and will get more numbers from different places and post again. If no luck I'll just run it until it breaks and then go from there.
