Re: motor identity

4423 is the model number. The rest of the string, after the dash, is the serial number. As I view it, it is 09378. Is that correct, or is there another number following the 8? If it is 09378, you have a 1948. 3.3hp Sportwin. Not exactly the best motor for a rookie to start with, but have fun.

If you unscrew the tiller handle (at the rubber part), you'll find that it doubles as a screwdriver.
