I finnally got fed up with my 150 vro 1990 and took it to a well known shop
i told them that it was hard to start
the water pump was not working on a plane
the tach was not working- took of the rectifer cleaned surfaces and nstalled
tourqued down the flywheel
and that the lower unit had water in the oil

the diagonise rate-$85.00 an hour
The repair rate same

i think i screwed my self up when i told them to check the tach out

The tach would zero out if voltage is supplied to it when the key is turned to the ON position.

If the tach doesn't register when the engine is running, a easy check of the tachometer is to simply plug another tach in...... tachometers have used a plug in setup for many years.

Any reputable shop would have a shop tach on hand just for this purpose.

If the shop tach operates properly, your tach is faulty. If the shop tach also malfunctions, then the problem is usually either a broken Gray sensor lead or a faulty rectifier.

well the tach is wired in but it sometimes works it is very jumpy sometimes it works sofetimes it dont i cleaned all the connections im thinking it has a bad rectifer any i might have cost my self about 85 dollars o well im trying to see if it is a internal prop of so im just going to pay the diagonstic rate and buy a nother motor o well

well i got the bad news today thhe engine is full of aluminum the water system is mest up and te lower unit will not old pressure i was ten told tat tis motor is not worth repairing so i guess i got to buy a nother motor
