I just acquired a johnson seahorse 18 fd-12 model no. 1691966, and was wondering the year of the motor and where i might be able to find a repair manual and what plugs, gaps, fuel oil mixture and point settings to use.
Thanks Rob. :)

Re: motor information

Welcome to Iboats p0kezfan!
Johnson FD-12
Year: 1958
HP: 18
WOT RPMS: 4500
Displacement: 22.0CID
Cylinders: 2
Weight: 77 - 88.5 lbs (Depends on options)
Gear Ratio: 15:26
Spark plugs: Champion J4C (was J4J) gapped at .030"
Points gap: Set to open .020" max.
Flywheel nut torque: 40-45 ft/lbs.
Fuel/Oil mix: 24:1 87 octane gas to TC-W3 rated outboard oil
Lower unit oil: OMC/BRP 'HiVis' or other 90w outboard gearcase oil.
Picture
From the Old OMC Site

Manuals (factory):
TheOutboardWizard
Mastertech
Marine Engine
Ken Cook
Also keep an eye on ebay for them (Search for "(Johnson, Evinrude) (18, 18hp) manual"). These are superior to the Seloc one that Iboats sells. Most 'consumable' parts for this engine are still available. Carefully examine the ignition coils for cracks in the insulation when the flywheel is off. You must use a flywheel puller that acts on the three bolt holes in the hub of the flywheel. Other methods will destroy the wheel or crankshaft.

Anything else you need? :)

Re: motor information

Paul,
I greatly appreciate your time and effort in getting this information for me and hope to soon have my boat on the water and fishing. I need to do a little once or twice over with my motor to make sure everything is in working order. I think you covered just about everything i need for now but will keep you in mind for future reference. Again a million thanks for everything.
Rob
