Ok..my motor is actin up again..this time i will hold the throttle down all the way and it will only go like it is just opened up a little bit..and i found a tear in the seal in the fuel pump.could that be it.i appreciate it

are you for sure it is..because whenever the motor is running it has lots of air bubbles in the line.

Rebuild the fuel pump - whether or not that is the problem. You can get a kit for like $4.

what does the fuel pump kit consist of and where could i get one at..i dont think it needs to be repaired..their is just a tiny cut in the seal..

Should be getting a "new" Merc. 1400 to replace it here pretty soon...hopefully I can part the old one out for what I'm paying for the new one. <br /><br />war eagle - it most likely is the fuel pump. You should be able to get a rebuild kit from any mercury dealer.

but its not a mercury..its a mariner..and i think it is the fuel pump because it never did this intill that tear got in the seal

War eagle it was late when I answered your post last night so didn't get into to much detail.<br /> Those fuel pumps run off vacuum so when you have a breach in any of the fuel system from the tank all the way to the carbs, you will not get sufficient amount of fuel to engine so therefore bad performance. Your problem could be a number of things but from the description you gave this was the most viable answer.<br /> Post back and let us know and we will help.<br /> BTW I see you live in paris we need to get together and fish for some cats down on the river at the camdan cut off that crosses I 40

while your at it, check all fuel lines and<br />connections for leaks. air bubbles = air leak<br />somewhere in system. when you puch throttle it's<br />sucking air, not fuel.<br />good luck,<br />M.Y.

Ok.The only air that is gettin in that i can see is coming from the fuel pump to the carb.Whenever it is running you can see the air bubbles goin to the carb.Sure bubbakat i would love to go hook onto a big cat anytime.

i still suspect an air leak somewhere down the<br />line before the pump. check all hoses and connectors<br />from the tank pick up all the way to pump. also<br />make sure the quick connect has the gasket in it.<br />I doubt the pump itself is leaking. look at the<br />fuel hose ends & connectors crefully.<br />good luck,<br />M.Y.<br />edit] look at check valves in pump as well.

But if the pump is sucking air, it only makes sense that he's seeing bubbles only from the pump to the carb. BTW, what's the serial number of your motor? And HP?

RB..my serial # is 695 S 021284,and the hp is 25.Hope this helps you out on my problem.
