Motor loose?

My motor has two problems. First off: 68(ish) Merc 650 4CYL <br /><br />First is when it's IN reverse, if you give it power it tries to climb up out of the water. Then it thunks and slaps back down. It basically sits there bouncing. I *DO* have power the whole time, it's just loose or something. <br /><br />The motor also seems a little loose on it's pivot point. Not so much that it causes the above issue. Is there a way to adjust this? <br /><br />What about adjusting the top problem?

Rob -<br /><br />When the engine is in reverse, a small reverse cam is supposed to latch in the center section to keep the motor from climbing out of the water.<br /><br />Or if you have power trim it should hold it.<br /><br />I don't know nothing about the pivit point.<br /><br />- Brian
