I have a 1979 Mercury 150 and the motor runs very well but the shaft that hold the motor to the mount seems worn. With the motor down I can move the motor and see the play in it. Does anyone know about the cost and what is involved in replaceing the bushings and seals. I am guessing that is what is worn.

Re: motor mount

The parts involved shouldn't cost much. But you'll have to remove the powerhead and gearcase to do it. It sounds awful, but the powerhead comes off as a unit fairly easy. Gearcase too. A manual is a must. No special tools required that I can think of.
