On my 1961 johnson 40hp engine model # RDSL-23 I have what I guess would be called motor mounts 1 in the front and 1 on either side, the one in front is broke along with the one on the shifter side, I checked both my manuals (clymers and .... ohh I can't remember the name, syloc or something) and neither one has anything about the mounts, How hard are they to replace, and how is it done, any help would be great.

Re: motor mount?

hahahaha
they are difficult to say the least.
here in the salt pond dang near impossible.
check to see if the mounts are still avalible before you get to involved. I would also change the lower mounts as well. it will require seperating the exhaust from the steering bracket. its a common problem and we broke a lot of 1/4x20 fasteners.
good luck and keep posting

Re: motor mount?

Well I am glad I could provide you salt loving leather faces with some humor J/K, Thank you for the forwarning, Looking at the diagrams I have, it looks like 5 rubber mounts and 2 stabilizers, any tricks you might want to share I assume start at the bottom and work up
