motor on ensenada 20

Hi all,
I'm working on restoring a 1973 Ensenada 20 that was given to me. Just came back and say many boats sailing at Monetray CA go me motivited on this project. One quick question. The boat has a motor mount. Would a 9 HP motor be sufficient for this boat?

The 9 would be on the big side 6hp would push it to hull speed in almost any condition

even a new 6hp 4 stroke is going to be on the heavy side compared to older 2 strokes

This is a 24' boat sailed in a windy area


The LONG shaft and a good motor mount that lets the motor get deep in the water all real important
