hey all, I just purchased a new to me 1994 glassport 17 foot ski boat, the boat seems to be in mint condition excepet for the up trim button does not work, I know it's electrical because if i use the trailer button it goes up fine. Oh yeah it has a 1994 mercruiser alpha 3.0 Am I just doing something stupid? I want to take the control apart but before i go in there I would like to see a wiring diagram does any one have one or know where to see a pic (the manual is on the way 7-10 days) but going on vacation saturday and would kind of have it working when we take it with us. Thanks, Andy

Re: motor only trims up using trailer button??

I think you have a defective trim limit switch, its a round sender on the outdrive. There are two buttons, one is a sender giving signals to your trim gauge and the other is a limit switch. The limit switch stops you from lifting the outdrive up too much while underway. The switch is bypassed by the trailer button to allow the drive to lift furthur for trailering only. If you are going to use the trailer switch until you get everything fixed, don't raise the drive very much! You'll ruin the Ujoints and bellows!

I had the same problem and it was the cutoff switch on the outdrive. Rip it apart and have a look at it to understand how it works (it's pretty simple) and then adjust it so that it does not disable the up swich too early.

Mine had moved down so that in almost all positions except fully down, the up switch was disabled.

Hope that helps
Donie
